Project Overview: Interior Architecture & Custom Detailing for a Private Family Residence
At The Atelier BD, interior design is not just about creating beautiful rooms—it’s about crafting spaces that quietly elevate everyday life. For this private residence in Gulshan, we were entrusted with translating the client’s desire for serenity and sophistication into a complete interior architecture experience. The goal was clear: to create a home that felt effortlessly elegant, deeply personal, and timeless in its appeal.
Our approach centered around natural materials, soft palettes, and refined proportions. Each room was treated as a calm canvas—composed to host light, shadow, and texture with balance. Warm wood, brushed brass, exposed concrete, and soft stone were paired with tactile fabrics to create a sensory rhythm across spaces. The materiality was intentionally restrained, allowing the quality of each element to speak for itself.
Spatial planning was equally deliberate. We designed wide, flowing thresholds and framed interior sightlines to create a sense of continuity and stillness throughout the home. Bespoke furniture and built-ins were tailored to the clients’ lifestyle and scaled to the architecture, ensuring every inch felt intentional and lived-in. Storage was seamlessly integrated, concealed behind paneled walls or beneath custom seating—prioritizing simplicity without sacrificing functionality.
Lighting played a pivotal role in establishing mood. During the day, filtered daylight washes over surfaces through strategically placed openings and courtyards. As evening falls, a mix of ambient lighting and subtle indirect fixtures lend the home a soft, golden calm. Every lighting detail was chosen not to impress, but to soothe.
This project reflects our core belief: that interior design should be quietly powerful. In this home, there is no excess—only what matters. It is a space that breathes, a space that listens, and most importantly, a space that reflects the people who live within it.
